Frequently Asked Questions

Is the diagnostic fee rolled into the repair?

No. Our diagnostic fee is separate from the cost of the repair.
Diagnosing today's vehicles requires far more than simply reading a code. It involves specialized factory-level diagnostic equipment, advanced technical training, years of experience, and the time needed to perform accurate testing. Our technicians follow a thorough diagnostic process to identify the root cause of the problem—not just replace parts based on a guess.
Once the issue has been accurately diagnosed, the repair itself is a separate service that involves replacing or repairing the failed component.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes, all of our repairs come with a 3 year/36,000-mile part and labor warranty. The warranty is also nationwide as well so if something fails and you’re not local to us you can take it to another shop where the warranty still applies. (specific shop needed)

Do you offer shuttle rides or rentals?

Yes, we offer both. Our shuttle service is complimentary. We offer rental vehicles as well: they are $35 a day for which we will need your license and insurance card. When making your appointment just simply mention whichever transportation makes most sense for your needs.

Can I bring my own parts for you to install on my vehicle?

Unfortunately, we do not allow you to provide your own parts for us to install. At Elite we use OEM or high-quality parts when replacing components on your vehicle and if you bring your own parts we have no way of knowing the quality of the parts you provide and therefore, we cannot stand behind our 3yr/36k mile warranty. Also, our insurance company prohibits us due to liability.

Why should I use an independent over a dealer?

Choosing an independent repair shop can give you the expertise and quality you expect from a dealership, along with a more personalized customer experience.
At Elite Auto Repair, we have highly trained technicians, advanced diagnostic equipment, and specialized knowledge to properly diagnose and service today's vehicles—including European and Japanese makes. We invest heavily in ongoing training and equipment so our team can stay up to date with the latest technology and repair procedures.
As an independent shop, we can also provide a more personalized experience. You get to know the people working on your vehicle, and we take the time to explain what your vehicle needs and why.
A few benefits of choosing Elite include:

  • Experienced, highly trained technicians who continually invest in their education.
  • Advanced diagnostic equipment to accurately diagnose today's complex vehicles.
  • Personalized service from a locally owned, family-operated business.
  • Transparent communication so you understand your vehicle's needs before work is performed.
  • Quality parts and repairs backed by our 3-year/36,000-mile parts and labor warranty.
  • Complimentary Digital Vehicle Inspections with photos and detailed recommendations.
  • Convenient services including shuttle transportation and after-hours vehicle drop-off.
  • Specialized European vehicle knowledge without requiring a trip to the dealership.

We believe you shouldn't have to choose between dealer-level expertise and personalized, local service. At Elite, our goal is to provide both—while building a long-term relationship with you and your vehicle.

Do you have the same diagnostic equipment as the dealer?

We have approximately 90% of the same diagnostic equipment and capabilities as the dealership. At Elite Auto Repair, we continually invest in advanced diagnostic tools, manufacturer-specific equipment, and ongoing technician training to properly diagnose and repair today's complex vehicles.
Modern vehicles require much more than simply reading a trouble code. Our technicians use advanced scan tools, specialized diagnostic equipment, oscilloscopes such as PicoScope, and manufacturer-specific information to accurately identify the root cause of a problem.
While there may be certain dealership-exclusive tools, software, or programming capabilities that we do not have access to, we are equipped to handle the vast majority of diagnostic and repair needs for the vehicles we service.

Do you have ASE technicians?

Yes! We’re proud to have a highly trained and continually educated team of technicians.
Currently, Elite Auto Repair has 3 ASE Master Certified Technicians on staff. We also have 2 additional technicians who are just a few tests away from earning their ASE Master Certification.
One of our ASE Master Technicians is also working toward becoming an ASE World Class Technician, one of the highest levels of professional recognition in the automotive service industry.

Can I wait while my vehicle is being serviced?

Yes! We welcome you to wait while your vehicle is being serviced. Our comfortable waiting area offers complimentary coffee, snacks, and free Wi-Fi to help make your visit as enjoyable as possible.
For shorter services, such as an oil change or Rhode Island state inspection, waiting is usually a great option. However, for diagnostics or more extensive repairs, we generally recommend dropping off your vehicle. This allows our technicians the time and flexibility to thoroughly inspect and service your vehicle without feeling rushed, ensuring the highest quality repair. It also gives us the opportunity to contact you if we discover any additional recommendations during the inspection.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes, appointments are recommended so we can provide you with the most accurate, efficient, and quality service possible.
Scheduling ahead allows us to reserve the proper amount of time for your vehicle, make sure we have the necessary parts and resources available, and ensure the right technician and equipment are ready for the job.
We understand that unexpected vehicle problems happen. If you have an urgent issue or your vehicle isn't safe to drive, please give us a call and we'll do our best to help determine the next best step.
Planning ahead helps us plan for your vehicle—and gives our team the time needed to do the job right the first time.

What happens if I have an issue after a repair?

If you experience the same concern after picking up your vehicle, or if the issue returns, please contact us as soon as possible. Depending on the symptoms, we may recommend having the vehicle towed to our shop to prevent any additional damage ( in which we would re-imburse you for tow if it is related or same problem).
Our team will inspect the vehicle promptly to determine the cause. In some cases, a replacement part may have failed. In other cases, a different issue may have developed that is unrelated to the original repair but is now presenting similar symptoms.
All qualifying repairs are backed by our 3-year/36,000-mile parts and labor warranty. If we determine the issue is due to a warrantied part or workmanship, the repair will be covered at no cost to you.
If our inspection finds that the new concern is unrelated to the original repair, a diagnostic fee may apply to identify and repair the separate issues.
